Day 1 Shanghai - Urumqi
We begin our journey on the Silk Road with an afternoon flight to Urmuqi, the modern, regional capital of Xinjiang Province and the most distant city in the world from any sea or ocean. On arrival, you will be met by your local guide and transferred to your hotel.

Day 2 Urumqi
In the morning, visit the Heavenly Lake to enjoy a lake cruise. In the afternoon, visit the Regional History and Ethnology Museum and the International Grand Bazaar.

Day 3 Urumqi - Kashgar
Fly to Kashgar, the largest oasis city in Central Asia, surrounded by the Great Pamir Mountains. The majority of the residents are Uyghurs who still wear traditional and colorful clothes. Visit the Eidgah Mosque, Handcraft Street, Apaq Hoja Mausoleum, Old Streets of Kashgar and the Grand Bazaar.

Day 4 Kashgar
Drive along the Sino-Pakistan Friendship Highway to visit Karakul Lake, which glitters beneath the Pamirs at an altitude of 3,600. With waters in shades of azure, the lake has a stunningly clear view of the snow-clad Pamir Mountains

Day 5 Kashgar - Urumqi - Turpan
Fly to Urumqi in the morning and then drive to Turpan, named the ¡°Fiery Land,¡± one of the lowest places on earth, a remote oasis in a scorching desert. In the evening, enjoy a Uighurs¡¯ Singing and Dancing performance.

Day 6 Turpan - Dunhuang
Morning visit to an Uighur Village and the Flaming Mountain in Tuyug Valley. Afterwards, visit the ancient city of Gaochang, Emin Minaret and Karez Irrigation System. In the evening, take the overnight soft sleeper train to Dunhuang.

Day 7 Dunhuang
Visit Dunhuang¡¯s most famous monument - the Mogao Grottos, popularly known as the Thousand Buddha Cave. Afterwards, head to Cresent Moon Spring and Sounding Sand Hill to enjoy a camel ride or climb to the top of the enormous sand dunes to see the crystal clear spring hidden amongst the sands.

Day 8 Dunhuang - Shanghai
After breakfast, transfer to Dunhuang Airport for the flight back to Shanghai, where our journey ends.
